Natural color and long-lasting tanning ingredient

Like Dihydroxyacetone(DHA), Erythrulose (DHB) is also derived from biotechnology and contains a carbonyl group (R-CHO) in its structure. This carbonyl group also can undergo a Maillard reaction with the free amino groups (-NH₂) of keratin in the stratum corneum of the skin.

Due to its slightly larger molecular weight, DHB initiates a slower Maillard reaction, resulting in a more natural, even, and long-lasting tanning effect.
